American Red Cross is working with families dealing with flooding.
Flooding has caused damage to more than 50 homes across coastal Georgia this week, prompting the American Red Cross to set up two disaster relief locations in Jesup and Statesboro.
The Jesup relief station, located at the 911 Center, is offering a cleanup kit to families affected by Monday night's flooding. These kits include a broom, mop, sponges and other cleaning supplies.
Six families have showed up for assistance, and The Red Cross has even been able to offer sleeping arrangements for one family.
"Today we've only put one family in a hotel and that's because that family has major damage to their home. They can't get into that home for another couple of days," said Kathie Perkins, a member of the Coastal Georgia chapter of The American Red Cross.
The Red Cross issued these totals on Wednesday:
Applied for assistance: Statesboro 14; Jesup 14
Provided funds for food: Statesboro 5; Jesup 4;
Families staying with Friends or relatives: Statesboro 7; Jesup 12;
