AT&T crews are still working on telephone lines that were brought down when a large tree fell in several pieces. A transformer also went out in the Magnolia Park area.
The storm rolled through early Thursday morning and caused outages for several hours.
A representative for Georgia Power said the downed tree in the Magnolia Park neighborhood could have caused as many as 85 people to lose power.
On Wilmington Island the rain poured down so hard that one resident had to put several buckets out to catch the rain that was leaking through the roof.
"[There was] just a lot of thunder and lightning. I have a small child. Of course, it woke him up as well. It woke the whole house up. We lost power for a little while," said Amanda Ramirez.
As many as 240 people were without power early Thursday morning in Chatham County, according to Georgia Power.
Georgia Power also warns residents about the dangers of live wires, saying that even though a wire may appear to be dead it can still be very dangerous and to avoid contact with it.
