LONG CO., GA (WTOC) -

U.S. Marshals have captured a Savannah man wanted for violating the terms of his release for a 2003 methamphetamine conviction. Wesley Mark Miller, 32, was arrested Thursday in Long County.

Miller was charged with theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, felony criminal attempt to commit a crime, possession of tools during the commission of a crime, along with several other charges.

Around 4 a.m. July 13, an Effingham County Sheriff's Office deputy pulled over a truck that match the description of one that may have been involved in a theft on Ga. Hwy 30.

The deputy walked up to the driver's side window and contacted the driver. Miller sped off in the truck, almost striking the deputy, according to the ECSO. A chase ensued on Hwy 30 and continued onto Nease Road.

Miller lost control of the truck, hit several light poles and was trapped inside the truck that had become surrounded by live power lines.

He was taken to a hospital, but left sometime during his medical treatment and had been on the run ever since.

He is currently in the Liberty County jail awaiting a court hearing.
