Hearing date for teen charged with double fatal fire stays - WTOC-TV: Savannah, Beaufort, SC, News, Weather & Sports

Hearing date for teen charged with fatal fire remains unchanged

A young girl charged in the fatal house fire on East DeRenne Drive last month was back in court.

On Thursday, a judge denied a request to move up a preliminary hearing date for the 13 year old. The juvenile judge said the paperwork was not completed to the judge's standards, so the judge elected to keep the original preliminary hearing date at 1:30 p.m. at Aug. 28.

An arson charge against the teen has been dropped but she is still is facing two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of her 6-year-old half-sister Amber and her 13-year-old cousin Haleigh.
