SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The 21st annual James R. Lientz Humanitarian Award has been given.

On Friday, Harold Oglesby, the manager of Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Disorders Medicine at St. Joseph/Candler Hospital was named the winner.

The award named after the late James Lientz, a former Candler Hospital board chairman and community activist, and is given to one hospital co-worker each year.

The winner is nominated by peers. This year, Oglesby was picked out of 43 nominees.

"What it means to me is confirmation that the work we do in the community and in the health system. As you know, we had 43 nominees besides myself that all did great things in the community the workers of the health systems do every day," Oglesby said.

He is a member of the 100 Black Men of Savannah Inc. and has helped organize a summer camp for teens at St. Joseph/Candler to learn about the health care profession.
