LIBERTY CO., GA (WTOC) -

Several are charged after a high-speed chase Thursday that started at the Darien mall outlet center in McIntosh County.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office said the driver who led police on a high-speed chase through two counties faces serious charges after putting the community at risk.

Investigators say Sharron Cooke sped off from officers in a rental car and that Tyrone Walker, Shawntavious Butler and Stephen Walker shoplifted at the outlet mall.

"This was calculated. They burglarized, I am being told, they got into a store's warehouse section got over 70 shirts with a value of close to $7,000 - I am told," said Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes.

Officers chased the car on Interstate 95 until Cooke got off at exit 76 onto Ga. Hwy 84 heading toward Hinesville in Midway.

From there, the car turned onto Hwy 17 when a responding officer used a PIT maneuver to stop the car. The sheriff said the video shows the driver was speeding and potentially endangering children getting off a school bus.

"These guys with no regard to anyone, in a school bus zone, [were] flying around school busses with no regard to life or anybody. [The] officer saw the opportunity to take him out, and I think he did and excellent job," Sikes said.

Walker, Walker and Butler are charged with theft by shoplifting and criminal conspiracy.

Cooke faces charges of reckless driving, fleeing and eluding and speeding in Liberty County and criminal conspiracy, fleeing or attempting to elude police officer in McIntosh County.
