Trailer, children’s games stolen from Oregon daycare

OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A local child care agency is asking for help and offering a reward after a trailer packed with thousands of dollars in equipment was stolen.

The Educare Academies were gearing up for an end-of-summer field day for their kids. It was going to be Monday, August 19, but the trailer that held the supplies was stolen the Saturday before.

"To be honest, I guess we just had the trust that it would be okay," said Lauri-Lynn Perez, education coordinator at Educare. "It was sitting next to a large playground with playground equipment, as well as a huge daycare that says Educare Academy."

It was taken in front of their Oregon location.

Between six inflatables and everything you can think of that comes with a small carnival, Perez says the total value of stolen items was at least $30,000. And although the trailer and what was inside it can be replaced, Perez says it's who it was stolen from that hurts the most.

"The children are very aware that the trailer is missing," she said. "They're like, ‘Miss Lauri, what can I do? Who do I write to? Did we find our trailer yet?' That just makes your heart break all over again."

The people at Educare Academy aren't giving up.

"We won't let any moss grow under our feet. We're not going to stop, we never do," Perez said. "We will prevail, and next year will be bigger and better."
