About half of Beaufort County's seventh graders still need to get the TDAP vaccine.
As of Monday, 690 students had not submitted proof of their immunization.
A new South Carolina law requires rising seventh graders to get the booster shot before they can go back to school.
Starting last Monday, the Beaufort County School District gave students a 30 day waiver to fulfill the requirement.
"There's a good reason for this law, it's safety, it's the kids safety. All the kids are safe if they're all immunized," said Jim Foster, Beaufort County School District.
Students can get the TDAP vaccine through their family doctor or a local South Carolina Dept. of Health and Environmental Control clinic.
