A South Carolina business is expanding into the Beaufort area, bringing dozens of new jobs.
The contract has been signed, the land space has been provided, all that's missing is the name of the company that will be working out of the building.
Situated off Eleanore Fine Road is the new location of a research and development company that will provide about 50 local jobs paying above the state average.
According to the South Carolina Department of Commerce, the average hourly state wage is $16.69.
The business will eventually occupy all 50,000 square feet of a warehouse.
City leaders teamed up with the Lowcountry Economic Alliance to pursue the opportunity as soon as they heard about it.
"We were aggressive. We said we wanted them and offered to help them in every way we could, not by throwing lots of money at them, but basically saying 'we want to be user friendly, we want your jobs in Beaufort and we want you to come live here,'" said Billy Kyserling, mayor for the city of Beaufort.
The name of that company is scheduled to be announced at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday by local and state leaders.
The Lowcountry Economic Alliance said they did offer the company a small incentives package to bring them to the area.
