SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office in Florida is asking for the public's help in finding an 11-year-old boy. They said they believe his mother might have taken him to the Savannah area.

Howard Darden is described as a black male who is about 5 feet tall and weighs 90 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes.

His mother, Angela Darden, 45, removed him from school at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday morning without his father's permission, according to the SCSO.

Darden was on GPS monitoring for an aggravated stalking incident involving the child's father. The bracelet was removed within hours of the boy being removed from school. The bracelet removal triggered a notification that went to authorities and the child's father.

Both Darden and the child's father had obtained court orders in different jurisdictions, with each order granting full custody to each parent, according to the sheriff's office.

Darden was scheduled to appear at a hearing at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. When she failed to appear, her custody of the child expired.

Late Wednesday night, Darden sent a text message to a family member that raised concern. Darden has a history of instability and the child is believed to be in danger.

Darden has family members in Savannah, according to the sheriff's office. They said they have more information that indicates Darden might be in the area.

She is believed to be driving a 2002 bright yellow Volkswagen Beetle with Florida tag S905DL.

A Missing Child Alert has been issued by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.  Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office at 407.665.6650.
