Alzheimer's Outreach Center Hosts "Dance The Night Away" Fundraiser

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It's their signature fundraiser to help those who have forgotten. The Alzheimer's Outreach Center is putting together their fifth "Blast From The Past", a dance filled with live music, food and professional swing and tango dancers.

"It's always a fun night, we always sell out," says Nancy Goode, Administrator of Alzheimer's Outreach Center

One-hundred percent of the funds go directly to the center to help with meals, arts and crafts, ability to operate at-home and day care programs along with community education and training.

"They live their life in moments. It's not days, like tomorrow they're not going to remember my name, they may remember my face but all that matters is how they feel at that moment," volunteer Jamie Beemer says.

The center heavily depends on the community and say they are humbled to have the help.

"Some people have come every year to all five," Goode recalls "And some this will be their first time coming and we hope they'll come back again."

It's a feeling Beemer says will make people feel...

"Totally good about what they did and what they did means a lot to these people."

Making a difference with a dance.

The event will begin at 6:30pm at the First United Methodist Church in Albany, tickets are thirty dollars.
