STEM education award finalists announced

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Six schools in the Savannah area are up for the 2013 STEM education awards. The finalists were announced Friday by the Technology Association of Georgia. 

 

The finalists from the Savannah area: May Howard Elementary School; Explorer Post Program; Georgia Southern University's Molecular Biology Initiative; Savannah State University; Savannah College of Art and Design; Savannah Technical College; Woodville Tompkins Technical and Career High School. The awards recognize schools, programs and companies for their efforts and achievements in supporting and promoting science, technology, engineering and math education. 

 

 "There is no doubt that technology is the future of Savannah and Georgia's economy. And people here are taking leadership and control of stem education. It shows that Savannah and Georgia have a great future," said Brady Cannon, programs director of the Technology Association of Georgia. 

The winners of the second annual awards will be announced at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center on Sept. 27.
