CNT: Psychedelic drugs manufactured in downtown Savannah
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
One person is in custody following the discovery of a clandestine lab on Savannah's East Side.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Friday, members of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to a residence in the 700 block of Barnard Street on a report of a possible drug violation. There, officers found what they believed to be a clandestine laboratory inside one of eight apartments.
Officers immediately secured the scene and requested assistance from the Savannah Fire Department and Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team.
CNT agents believe the substance inside was an inactive lab that had been used to make dimethyltryptamine, commonly known as DMT.
Alvin Joseph Wenzel, 19, was arrested and charged with numerous felonies, including manufacturing DMT.
