Fire destroys Ellabell home

ELLABELL, GA (WTOC) -

A fire broke out Sunday afternoon at a home in the 100 block of Mulberry Park in Ellabell Sunday afternoon.

Cathy White sifted through what is left of her home.

White was in the shower just minutes before the fire started and in spite of losing one of her two dogs, she did recover something priceless among the ashes.

The home is a total loss, but the fire missed most of her bedroom. White gets choked up but because she's happy she found her son's baby albums and even her cell phone.

"I brought him home from the hospital so he's been here a little over 20 years and I've been here since 86," White said.

The American Red Cross helped them Sunday night. But White's son Tim who has lived here all his life is a musician and is planning on some events to raise money to replace items they lost in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
