SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Red Cross is assisting a family after lightning apparently sparked an attic fire.

Fire officials say four adults were displaced after a lighting strike is believed to have hit a home on Sunnybrook Road and caused a fire in the attic around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The fire did minor damage, but according to the Red Cross, the family had to leave the home because utilities had to be cut off. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

According to the Red Cross Public Affairs Lead, this is the 7th family displaced because of fire in 7 days in the area.

The Red Cross encourages the general public to help the Red Cross assist this family and others by making a generous financial donation to your local Red Cross.
