Students at Habersham School celebrated the first day of class in the recently remodeled Gould Cottage with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Ardsley Park on Tuesday.
Student volunteers worked with crews on the renovations to the cottage, which was constructed in the 1930s.
"For them to be servant leaders, for them to put forth that they cannot just read their books and do their homework and study the great works of western civilization but can sledge a hammer and haul things away is part of educating that whole person," said Angie Copetillo, the head of school.
This was the first of three phases of renovations. They are already working on phase two, which should wrap up by the end of the year.
