Students collected the canned goods as part of Gentiva Hospice ninth annual August food drive for America's Second Harvest food bank.
Volunteers loaded up a truck at Savannah Christian on Wednesday afternoon.
"I think especially now it is going to mean a lot more to these students that they were able to contribute in a time when they are in such need at Second Harvest," Kim Tutan, of Gentiva Hospice of Savannah.
"As a whole we always want to do things together and get things done so it was really driven by all of us to do it," said Lizzie Wakely, a senior at Savannah Christian.
Savannah Christian collected more than any other participating school. It took two truckloads to move it all.
