Six arrested in Lowcountry drug investigation

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Six people were arrested Wednesday as part of a drug investigation by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, assisted by members of the Drug Enforcement Administration Tactical Diversion Squad.  

The DEA was working on a case in Columbia, SC, which led to the identification of give people in Beaufort County who were involved in getting fraudulent prescriptions for drugs, according to the BCSO. Sheriff's office investigators obtained state warrants for the suspects. 

When investigators were serving an arrest warrant for John Pinto, investigators spoke with Pinto's roommate, Arthur Lawrence. 

Lawrence was in possession of marijuana, which led investigators to obtain a search warrant for the home, according to the BCSO. 

A search warrant was carried out at Lawrence's residence on Luther Warren Road on St. Helena Island.

An estimated 150 grams of marijuana, $748 in cash, two long guns, two hand guns and drug paraphernalia were seized in the search, according to the BCSO.

John Pinto, 55, of St. Helena, was arrested and charged with obtaining prescription by fraud.

Lashauna Jacobs, 31, of Beaufort, was arrested and charged with obtaining a prescription by fraud.

Kime Young, 34, of Beaufort, was arrested and charged with obtaining Prescription by Fraud

Bonita Mcclain-Chisolm, 39, of St. Helena Island, was arrested and charged with obtaining prescription by fraud.

Norris Jenkins, 59, of St. Helena Island, was arrested and charged with obtaining prescription by fraud.

Arthur Lawrence, 37, of St. Helena, was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana.

The investigation continues and more arrests and charges are expected.
