CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

A multi-agency enforcement effort over Labor Day Weekend that involved several law enforcement agencies resulted in 37 citations issued for traffic-related offenses.

The crackdown was part of the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety's 22nd Annual Hands Across the Border DUI enforcement campaign.

The citations were issued at the border between Chatham and Jasper counties.

On Friday, the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Traffic Unit, Georgia State Patrol, Hardeeville Police Dept., Jasper County Sheriff's Office and several other agencies worked to issue the citations, according to the SCMPD.

There were roadside sobriety checkpoints set up at the northern foot of the Savannah's Talmadge Bridge to find drivers exceeding the blood-alcohol limit of .08.

The enforcement campaign also targets drug offenders, fugitives, persons with warrants, improperly restrained children, unlicensed and uninsured drivers.
