Flag raising ceremony honors Teacher of the Year

A new flag now flies at Windsor Forest High School.

The Flag of Learning and Liberty was raised at the home of the Knights, honoring the district's Teacher of the Year, Natalie Chase, who teaches 11th and 12th grade English at Windsor Forest.

This is Chase's eighth year as an educator and says she is honored to be named teacher of the year and looks forward to the future of teaching.

"Well, there are a lot of changes right now, especially with common core and with a lot more focus on literacy," said Chase. "I hope that we will rise to the occasion and pull more literacy and rigor into the classroom so we have students who are really college and career ready," she continued.

The first flag symbolizing the link between education and a strong free nation was raised at the capitals of all 50 states and D.C. back on July 4th, 1985.
