TOOMBS CO., GA (WTOC) -

Students at four rural high schools have a chance to go higher than before in more ways than one. The schools celebrated a new repelling tower for their new JROTC program Friday.

Schools in Montgomery, Toombs, and Treutlen counties along with Vidalia teamed with Southeastern Tech to offer the training as well as vocational and technical classes.

The tower offers training the 200 combined cadets wouldn't get otherwise.

"It costs money to have this kind of program. By pooling their resources, these four school boards have found a way to have a very viable and effective program here," said CSM David Draughn, Sr. Army instructor.

The tower also has a training ramp with it.

Each school transports its students to the Early College and Career Academy next to Southeastern Tech.
