Tattnall students get CPR training

REIDSVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

Hundreds of teens packed the Tattnall County High School gym Monday to learn the skills to save lives.

Medical crews from LifeStar's Vidalia office taught students the signs of cardiac arrest and the CPR techniques they can administer after calling 911 for emergency help.

"Once you teach a person CPR, it's been proven that they teach an average of 2.5 people," explained Robbin Perry of LifeStar. "We taught 750 students today, you can do the math. This was a great day," he added.

In May, Governor Nathan Deal signed into law a provision that Georgia public schools must at least show students a video on CPR and life-saving skills.

LifeStar-Vidalia will offer the same CPR instruction on September 29th from 1:30 to 4 p.m. outside the Vidalia Wal-Mart on U.S. Highway 280.
