SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah city council member is taking a new approach to meeting her constituents.

Alderwoman Mary Ellen Sprague announced her new weekly "Muffins with Mary Ellen" chat session at the cofee.deli in Habersham Village.

The morning discussions will be every Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sprague says she will sit down and have a relaxed, open forum with District Four residents over coffee and muffins, share thoughts and ideas and anything else on their minds.

"Come, sit down and just chit chat and just brainstorm. When you are dealing with problems constantly, you don't have the opportunity to do that by email or over the phone," Sprague told WTOC. "This way, I can sit down, eye to eye, take a full three hours and really delve into some real issues," she added.

The first "Muffins with Mary Ellen" will be this Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. at coffee.deli. Sprague says she will hold the chat sessions every Wednesday morning as long as people come and participate.
