Arrest made in Statesboro Subway shop robbery


An Ellabell man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Subway in Statesboro.

Reginald Bradford, 25, is charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of p­­­­ossession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, one count of theft by taking of a motor vehicle and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

Police said that at about 3 a.m. Sept. 9 a man walked into the Subway on Lanier Drive with a handgun and took cash from the register, and a Subway employee's wallet, mobile phone and vehicle keys. He left and no one was injured.

A silver 2012 Hyundai Accent was spotted by Statesboro police at The Pointe at Southern within an hour after the robbery. 

The suspect was described by the victim as a black male who is 5'6" tall. He has facial hair, an earring in his left ear and was wearing a New York Yankees hat. 

On Sept. 10, the Statesboro Police Dept.'s Crime Suppression Unit observed a man walking on North College Street who was wearing backpack similar to the one worn by the suspect during the armed robbery. 

Officers made contact with him and they located the handgun and other evidence that linked Bradford to the robbery, according to police. 

Bradford was taken to the police department and arrested after further investigation.
