SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah College of Art and Design welcomes new and returning students for the fall quarter. The incoming class of freshman, transfer and graduate students consists of about 2,400 students and represent 48 states and 62 countries.

In addition to the annual orientation activities - this year also marks the opening of the new student residence Montgomery House - the largest construction project to date for SCAD.

"They are so nice and I'm a little bit of a germ person, so I'm really excited about having a clean space and having a clean mattress that no one's really slept on. It's just a really great space as far as like the painting studio and the game room, it's just really fun," said SCAD sophomore Kathryn Larrabee.

New student orientation runs through Sunday. SCAD starts the fall quarter on Monday.
