The Chatham County Commission had several items to get through on Friday.
The meeting lasted more than three hours and included issues such as the police department and the county detention center.
The county commission swore in the 2013-2014 Chatham County Youth Commission. They also ratified the special local option sales tax intergovernmental agreement.
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Chief Willie Lovett briefed the commission with crime statistic and areas of concentration. The commission also heard an update on the Chatham County Detention Center, which is expected to be finished by next month.
Commissioners were concerned that some of the smaller sub contractors had not been paid yet for certain services, with the new jail project. The county and the contractor are discussing that now.
