BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Search efforts entered a third day for a Beaufort County man who went missing earlier this week.

Authorities said 54-year-old Carl Mulligan was last seen around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday when his boat made a sharp turn, throwing him overboard.

The Department of Natural Resources continued their search efforts Friday both on the ground and in the air.

Search efforts for Mulligan started bright and early. Some of the DNR crews launched their boats near the Wimbee Creek boat landing.

But as of Friday afternoon, they were still combing the area in search of Mulligan.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and the Coast Guard were not actively assisting in the recovery efforts unless needed.

WTOC spoke to one of the family members. They said they're just anxious to find out what happened and put some closure to the situation.

DNR teams will continue their search efforts until sundown.
