SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Is JetBlue possibly coming to Savannah?

The president and CEO of JetBlue Airways hinted on Twitter about coming to Savannah. In his tweet, Dave Barger says: "Hmmm, Savannah's three letter code is SAV seems like an airline should add service and Save' customers from high fares."

Officials at Savannah Hilton Head/International Airport say they were surprised to hear about the tweet and don't know anything about JetBlue's plans for Savannah.

A year ago, JetBlue was choosing between coming to the Savannah airport or going to Charleston, but the airline picked Charleston.

Residents are excited about Savannah being back in the mix.

"The airport's gotten bigger, more people are going through Savannah now then in the past, and most of the services that came here before, they were not great services, so maybe JetBlue can pull it off," said Bobby Woods.

Joe Marinelli, of Visit Savannah, said there have always been conversations about JetBlue coming to Savannah, but they were surprised by the tweet from JetBlue's president.

"It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out," he said.
