LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - While celebrating their honeymoon, a New Albany couple was forced to flee the rising Colorado floodwaters.

Andrew and Abby Speth have only been married one week, but have already been through a great test of marriage.

The couple arrived safely at Louisville International Airport Saturday after they were forced out of their hotel by raging flood waters on Thursday. They then made the six hour journey back to Denver on a treacherous mountain road.

"He was more calm about it but I thought gosh what if we can't get out and we drown," said Abby Speth. "It was a lot of water, a lot of water and it was rushing."

"We made a good team so now we know we can survive anything we know we can survive a disaster now."
