Two die after motorcycle hits deer

BARNWELL COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Two people are dead after the motorcycle they were riding on hit a deer Sunday night.

A South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson said the accident happened on Reynolds Road around 8:20 p.m.

According to Corporal Sonny Collins, a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle was travelling south on Reynolds Road north of Barnwell when the motorcycle struck a deer. 

Both occupants were thrown from the motorcycle as it ran off the road. The victims were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, Collins said.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
