SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Vice President Joe Biden has not canceled his plans to tour the Port of Savannah despite a fatal shooting at the Washington Naval Yard  in Washington D.C.

WTOC's sister station in Charleston says the Vice President running late for his appearance. A White House representative says that Biden is still running on schedule for his Savannah visit.

Biden is scheduled to speak at the ports around 2:30 p.m. He'll be discussing the economic advantages of the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project.

The $652 million project will deepen the harbor from 42 feet to 47 feet to allow larger container ships to pass through. The visit follows a visit last week to the Port of Baltimore where the Vice President was also supporting an expansion project.
