Ga. Southern professors travel to Newtown

A husband and wife who teach music at Georgia Southern University will travel to Newtown Connecticut to perform during a community festival.

Steven and Larisa Elisha will travel to Newtown Tuesday to take part in the first Newtown Arts Festival, the first community event since the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in December.

Larisa, a violinist, and Steven, a cellist, will not only perform during the festival, they will also teach music  to local children during the week.

"We have performed all over the world and the one common entity in all that is that music is the one link to all humanity," Steven said Monday.

The Elishas came to Georgia Southern in 2011. However, the director of the festival is a 1981 graduate.
