Sheriff: 3-year-old has seizure after assault from 53-year-old man

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A 53-year-old Gaston man is in custody after Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts says he repeatedly punched a 3-year-old child so hard the child had a broken hip and a seizure. 

Michael Anthony Still has been charged with inflicting great bodily harm upon a child.

According to Metts, Still, who was in charged of the child's well-being, assaulted the boy at a home in Gaston on Sunday.

The boy was transported to the Children's Hospital at Palmetto Health Richland to receive treatment for the seizure, a broken hip, and severe bruising on his face and other parts of his body.

The motive for the assault is under investigation.

Still remains at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing. He could face up to 20 years in prison.
