SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Family and friends are mourning a ranger at Hunter Army Airfield who was killed during a training exercise.

Pfc. Christopher P. Dona, 21, died June 13 at the Taylors Creek drop zone after his Airborne Proficiency Jump.

On Tuesday, he was honored during a memorial ceremony at Hunter Army Airfield. Dona was assigned to Company D of the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment as an automatic rifleman.

"He was a warrior, a professional - everything you want in a young Ranger. He did everything right and if he didn't do it right the first time, he would work very hard to get it done the second time," said 1SG Brett Johnson, of the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.

Dona distinguished himself as a member of the army's Premier Direct Action Raid Force and fought valiantly as he served his fellow Ranger and his country.
