More tax fraud suspects arrested in Statesboro

Local officers and federal agents walked suspects into the federal building in Statesboro to the U.S. Marshals office, then took them to the Bulloch County jail.

The 10 people arrested face federal charges of conspiracy to commit fraud. They're accused of using stolen medical records to file false tax returns and claim other people's refunds.

"Many of the victims did not know they were victims until they filed a legitimate return and were contacted by the IRS," explained Officer Justin Samples, of Statesboro police.

On Sept. 19, 2012, agents searched several homes in and around Statesboro and seized computers and other records and arrested suspects weeks later. Samples said these arrests link back to the case one year ago.
