Fort Stewart Soldier injured in Afghanistan dies

FORT STEWART (WTOC) -

A Fort Stewart soldier who was wounded in Afghanistan in August has died.

The Department of Defense said Spc. James T. Wickliffchacin, 22, of Edmond, Okla., died Friday, Sept. 20 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He sustained injuries when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol during combat operations in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan on Aug. 12.

Wickliffchacin was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Calvary Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team at Fort Stewart.
