New community garden for Greenbriar Children's center

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Metropolitan Savannah Rotary Club, Lowe's and Greenbriar Children's Center team up to build a new unique community garden.

The garden will be maintained by Greenbriar students who plan to sell the produce to local restaurants.

The garden is set to be built from the ground up at Greenbriar Children's Center campus, 3709 Hopkins St., located off West 52nd Street in Savannah. Through various fund-raisers, Rotary members raised more than $7,000 for a planned community garden. Lowe's is supplying much of the material. Rotary members and Greenbriar staff will work with students to develop a growing plan and business strategy for selling the produce.

Savannah restaurant Green Truck Pub has already agreed to purchase produce grown at the Greenbriar Community Garden for use in the restaurant.
