Savannah Saltwater Classic to benefit ADA

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A multi-species Big Fish Tournament for both inshore and offshore fishing will be held Oct. 4-6 to benefit American Diabetes Association. The official tournament activities will be held in conjunction with Octoberfest on the Savannah Riverfront in downtown Savannah and features guaranteed cash prizes.

The Offshore Division Entry Fee is $250 and the Inshore Division Entry Fee is $150.  Slam Competitions include Inshore (Trout, Redfish, Flounder) and Offshore (King Mackerel, Dolphin, Wahoo). There are four Registration/Captain's Meetings:

Tuesday, Oct. 1  

Custom Marine, 104 Rushing Lane, Statesboro, GA

  • Registration, Raffles, Food & Beverage 5-7 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

Thursday, Oct. 3

 Dorchester Shooting Preserve, Midway, GA

  • From I-95 at Exit 76, Go East on Island's Highway. Go approximately 1/2 mile to Trade Port East business center entrance.  Turn left.  Go 3 miles & Dorchester Shooting Preserve will be on the right.
  • Registration, Raffles, Food & Beverage 5-7 p.m.
  • Team/Family Meeting 7 p.m. 

Friday, Oct. 4

 Rousakis Riverfront Plaza, River Street, Savannah, GA - across from Tubby's

  • Registration 3-8 p.m.

King Mackerel Division

  • Regular Entry: $300 (9-26-13: Cash, Check or Credit Card)
  • On Site Entry: $350 (Cash or Credit Card ONLY - NO CHECKS!)

Trout Division

  • Regular Entry: $175 (9-26-13: Cash, Check or Credit Card)
  • On Site Entry: $225 (Cash or Credit Card ONLY - NO CHECKS!)

Saturday, Oct. 5

  • No Check-out (lines in at 6:30 a.m.)
  • Fishing times: 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m. (Saturday)
  • Lines in the water at 6:30 a.m.
  • Boundaries: Inshore and Offshore waters between latitude lines N32-50-00 and N30-40-00
  • Scales open 3 p.m. (Saturday)
  • Weigh-in line closes 5 p.m. (Saturday)
  • Awards: 1st place prizes will be awarded immediately after last fish weighed
  • Weather/Safety alternate fish day Sunday

  • Full awards presentation and Grand Prize Drawing 4:30 p.m.  

Raffle tickets for a 13-foot flats boat will be on sale on the Savannah Riverfront with a percentage of those sales also going to American Diabetes Association. Fishing times are 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.  The scales open at 3 p.m. and the Weigh-In line closes at 5 p.m. on the Savannah Riverfront. The Grand Prize Ceremony will take place on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m.

The Savannah Saltwater Classic proceeds will be part of ADA's Fall Campaign, Step Out to Fight Diabetes, to be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Skidaway Island State Park.  The 5K Run & Walk event features family and corporate teams and will include fall festival activities.
