2 detained after woman shot

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah woman was shot in her own yard on Monday afternoon near Atlantic Avenue and Columbus Drive. 

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said they have detained two men, but they have not yet determined whether they're connected to the shooting. 

The 62-year-old woman was shot at about 1:40 p.m. She told police she was in her yard with her dog when she saw the men in the alley behind her house and heard a shot, then felt a pain. Patrol officers and violent crimes detectives saturated the area.

The two men, ages 26 and 29, were spotted on East 61st Street between Abercorn and Bull streets. One was arrested on a weapons charge after a foot chase through the neighborhood, and the other was detained for questioning, according to police.

The woman was taken to Memorial University Medical Center. Her wound is considered non-life-threatening.
