BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Lady's Island man who went missing Monday morning.

Family members of Richard Warren Blankenship, 56, last heard from him on Sunday afternoon.

They said his behavior was unusual and could have been due to the medication he was taking, according to the BCSO. His family does not believe that he is in any danger, but became concerned when they went to his home and found the power shut off and his vehicle gone.

Blankenship does not leave his home very often, and is in regular telephone contact with friends and his family. Attempts to reach him on the phone have been unsuccessful since Sunday.

He is not considered to be a threat to himself or others; however, he is considered being endangered due to unusual behavior and possible need for medical attention, according to the BCSO.

He may be driving in a maroon 2003 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck with SC license plate CPG 532. He is 5'10" and weighs 225 lbs. He has gray shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Richard Blankenship is asked to contact either Investigator Cpl. J. Malphrus at 843.255.3426 or CrimeStoppers at 888.CRIME.SC (274-6372) or text the word TIPSC with a message to CRIMES (274637).
