RINCON, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia State Representative Bill Hitchens visited Ebenezer Elementary School today to read to a group of four year olds as part of Pre-k Week.

Around the state attention is turned to thousands of Georgia's youngest children in celebration of the important work they are doing to prepare for school success.

Rep. Hitchens read "Lama Lama, Holiday Drama" students, explaining he loves the opportunity to engage with the students.

"You know it's the enthusiasm. They are willing, they want to listen and they want to learn and interact and ask questions," Hitchens said. "Sometimes it may seem foolish to us, but it's important to them and I always try to answer them as best I can.

Rep. Hitchens is one of nearly 150 officials who will visit some of the approximately 3,800 pre-kindergarten classrooms located in all 159 counties in Georgia.
