DA's office: Man indicted for trying to run over officer

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

A man has been indicted by a Chatham County grand jury in connection with a traffic wreck on Aug. 21.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said Sean Andrew Joynt, 26, was a passenger in a one-vehicle wreck in the 5700 block of White Bluff Road on Wednesday night. A friend drove another car to the crash to help, and Joint drove off in that car, according to police.

An Advanced Police Officer was struck by the car Joint was driving and was hospitalized.

Joynt is charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony – murder; two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer; aggravated assault; aggravated battery; theft by taking; and two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, according to the Chatham County District Attorney's Office.
