BCSO: Coosa Elementary burglary suspect arrested

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

The suspect sought in the recent burglary at Coosa Elementary School has been arrested. 

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, Cody Auvil Perkins, 21, of Beaufort, was arrested in Jasper County and transferred to the Beaufort County Detention Center Wednesday afternoon. Perkins was wanted on two counts of second degree burglary; one for the Sept. 21 break-in at Lady's Island Middle School and one for the Sept. 22 break-in at Coosa Elementary School. 

Perkins and another unidentified male were captured on surveillance breaking into the elementary school at approximately 1 a.m. on Sept. 22. Once inside, the men forced entry to a vending machine and cash register in the cafeteria, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Investigators are currently working to identify the additional suspect(s). Anyone with information is asked to contact either Investigator Cpl. A. Zsamar at 843.255.3408 or Crimestoppers.
