HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

The Hinesville Homeless Prevention Program and the Savannah Community-Based Outreach clinic are partnering to offer assistance to homeless veterans.

Informational sessions regarding the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Supportive Housing program will be held at the Hinesville City Hall on Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Case managers from the Savannah VA Clinic will offer details on the program. Veterans and the public are welcome to attend on Oct. 7 and any Monday until January 2014.

"We are very fortunate to be able to access HUD-VASH for our community, as we have had multiple conversations about veteran homelessness over the past 24 months," Hinesville Mayor James Thomas Jr., said in a statement. "Our January Point-in-Time count and data on the number of contacts since then, has allowed us to quantify our needs and now we can continue to build on the significant decline in veteran homelessness."
