SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Filming for "Spongebob Squarepants 2" is taking place in downtown Savannah this week. 

The movie is part live action. Antonio Banderas is cast to play the lead pirate in the film. Some businesses on Broughton Street were painted bright colors in preparation for the filming.

One of the store fronts along Broughton Street will be transformed into Periwinkle's Fudge shop for the movie. 

Production crews updated businesses and residents with a new schedule for filming and locations, including updated street closures, as of Oct. 4. The biggest days, according to the letter, will be Oct. 14 to 16, when the pirate boat scenes will be filmed on Broughton.

Depending on the weather. Pedestrian traffic is welcome and encouraged. All traffic restrictions are geared towards vehicle traffic only. They are as follows:

Oct. 9: Broughton St. will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking from Lincoln to Bull between 5am and 8pm. No parking on Abercorn between State and Congress from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. No parking on south side of Congress between Drayton and Lincoln in the morning only.

Drayton will be closed to vehicular traffic after 9 a.m. until Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. Traffic will be rerouted via State and Congress.

Abercorn will be closed to vehicular traffic until 1 p.m. and remain open with intermittent traffic control operations (ITC).

All streets (except Drayton) will be open for traffic and parking after 8 p.m. and until 5 a.m. the following morning. ITC on Lincoln and Broughton and on Bull and Broughton as needed. ITC on Congress between Drayton and Lincoln until 1 p.m.

Oct. 10: Broughton closed to traffic and parking from Lincoln to Bull between 5am and 8pm. ITC on Bull and Broughton, Abercorn at Broughton and Lincoln at Broughton. 

No parking on Bull, Abercorn and Lincoln between State and Congress.

Drayton remains closed to traffic with reroutes to State and Congress until 8 p.m.

Oct. 11: Broughton closed to traffic and parking from Lincoln to Bull between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. ITC on Bull at Broughton, Abercorn at Broughton and Lincoln at Broughton. 

No parking on Bull, Abercorn and Lincoln between State and Congress.

Drayton remains closed to traffic with reroutes to State and Congress until 8 p.m.

Oct. 12: Broughton closed to vehicular traffic and parking from Bull to Jefferson. Bull closed from State to Broughton to traffic and parking until 1 p.m. 

ITC on Broughton at Bull after 1 p.m. ITC on Broughton at Whitaker. Barnard closed from State to Congress Lane until 3 p.m. 

ITC on Broughton at Barnard after 3 p.m.

Oct. 14, 15, 16: These are the biggest days with the pirate boat driving east and west on Broughton Street from Lincoln to Jefferson. No Parking or traffic on Broughton between Montgomery and Lincoln from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

No parking between State and Congress on Abercorn, Bull, Barnard and Jefferson streets.

ITC on Broughton at Lincoln, Abercorn, Drayton, Bull, Whitaker, Barnard and Jefferson streets.

Oct. 17, 18: No parking or traffic is permitted on Broughton between Drayton and Habersham from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. each day.

No traffic is permitted on Abercorn between State and Congress.

No parking on Abercorn between Congress Lane and Broughton Lane. No parking or traffic on Lincoln between State and Congress. ITC on Broughton at Habersham.
