Five suspects were arrested on drug and weapons related charges Friday morning.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Dept.'s Central Precinct Tactical Investigations Unit, Crime Suppresion Unit and SWAT Team collaborated to serve warrants at two residences on the 500 block of Seiler Avenue.

Jerrod Garrett, 30, was charged with four counts of sale of a controlled substance and two counts of attempt to violate Georgia's Controlled Substance Act.

Rashawn Singleton, 31, was charged with five counts of sale of a controlled substance and felony probation violation.

James Write, 50, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Dennis Lewis, 55, was charged with probation violation and contempt of court.

Mae Prescott, 69, was charged with four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, and possession of a drug related object.

Detectives confiscated four guns and three ounces of crack cocaine from the first residence, where the suspects were apprehended, and found drug paraphernalia in the second residence.

The arrests were a continuation of the Summer 2013 "All Hands on Deck Program" operation. Capt. DeVonn Adams called for strategic placement of officer's leave requests to allow for higher police presence during periods when crime traditionally spikes.

"This operation was intended to run from June until the end of August. After seeing its success, we decided to keep it going year-round," Adams said in a statement. "We're committed to keeping our community safe. We'll do whatever it takes."
