SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society's 2013 Buddy Walk is set to stroll around Forsyth Park.

The event raises awareness and money for the organization which serves more than 90 families who have children with Down syndrome.

Participants will enjoy a 1-mile walk around the beautiful and historic Forsyth Park in Savannah on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

Paula Deen to serve as the grand marshal at this year's event. Bobby Deen and his wife will also be a part of the event.

"It means the world to me. This is the community we live in. These are the children of Chatham County and Savannah and we are ingrained in a part of this community. Every person here matters. The children are the most precious thing that we have. Being a part of this community is hugely important to my family and myself," said Bobby Deen.

More than 4,000 people took part in last year's event.
