Red Cross seeks volunteers for upcoming events

Posted: Updated:

The Red Cross is looking for volunteers for Thursday's Chatham County Health Department drive-through flu vaccination clinic.

The clinic will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 10 in the parking lot of the old health department. The entrance to the flu vaccination clinic will be on Eisenhower Drive and no appointment is necessary.

If you have an interest in helping with the clinic, contact Melissa Axley at 912.651.5321.

There are several other Savannah events happening in October that the Red Cross is seeking more volunteers to assist with. Those events include:

  • Oct. 12: Volunteers needed to assist with an event at Gulfstream (Savannah) from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Gulfstream is hosting a community service event in which many of their employees and their families will be helping to assemble comfort kits (toiletry kits given to disaster clients). Volunteers are needed to help assemble kits as well as to provide information on Red Cross services.
  • Oct. 12-13: Volunteers needed to staff a Hurricane Preparedness booth at the Honestly Well Health and Wellness Expo at the Civic Center in Savannah from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. both days.
  • Oct. 23: Volunteers needed to help with a fundraising event at Five Guys Burger & Fries in the Twelve Oaks Shopping Center in Savannah from 5:45-8 p.m. Participants will be asked to help collect receipts from diners and to share information about the Red Cross.

If you have an interest in helping with any of these events, please call the number mentioned above.
