Judge cancels warrant, cites arraignment error

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Dougherty County Judge has canceled a bench warrant for the arrest of former Albany State Foundation Executive Director Angela Getter after she did not show up for an arraignment Tuesday morning.

Court officials say the warrant was originally issued due to a 'no show' Monday and Tuesday, but a closer look revealed a mistake in the warrant. According to the court clerk, there was a misunderstanding, and Getter will not be sought.

Getter now has an arraignment scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Getter and foundation Business manager Sean Stanley wrote checks to themselves for between $12,000 and $15,000  for "professional services."

The theft was discovered during a university audit after Getter and Stanley resigned in 2008.

Stanley filed a letter to the court Monday through his lawyer, entering a not guilty plea.
