Woman charged with injury crash on Folly Road

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

A St. Helena Island woman has been charged in connection with an injury crash involving four children.

The wreck occurred at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday on Folly Road near Centennial Circle. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said Francia Pompilus, 30, was driving a Chevrolet north on Folly Road when she ran off to the right side of the road and struck a culvert. The vehicle overturned several times.

Four children including an infant, a 4 year old, a 2 year old and a 1 year old were in the vehicle at the time. Two children were not in car seats, according to the SCHP. All five were taken to Beaufort Memorial. Two children were flown to the Medical University of South Carolina for pediatric care.

Pompilus was  charged with driving too fast for conditions and two child restraint citations.
